Typing the Typer

I wanted to type something out. But I don't know what to type about. So here I am typing and deleting and typing and deleting and typing this random thoughts out. In truth, I am just procrastinating when I could've type out my project report. But this blog has long been abandoned. So I'm typing things here.

Good lord, help Zaza get her butt off the bed and start typing the things that matter.

2018: A Better Year

Hey guys! It's been awhile.

Phew! I honestly have a lot of reviews waiting to be write up but life always gets in the way. Kahkahkah. Padahal malas.

As for today, I'm writing a new year's post! It's a little late because I had an exam today and spent most of my time after the new years eve, burying my head in my notes. Tipu ja, tengok Naruto yang lebih.

2017 has been a crappy, hard and horrible year for me. By far, it's the worst year out of my 21 years of existing on planet Earth. A lot went on and I was in a very emotionally unstable state. I even had several depressive episode where I just spend the day sleeping, getting up only to eat and doing nothing else. It's horrible.

I started planning and doing a few things to keep me distracted. To keep my mind of the problems I am facing, the hurt I am feeling. Even this blog was meant as a distraction. It's unhealthy to suppress your problems, but I couldn't find a better way to cope at the time. Alhamdulillah, I have such amazing support system, that's you guys k Kadesheng and Ha.

Another thing that I started was:
joining a business!

It was originally meant as a distraction and I only wanted to help out Ha's sister. He's been nagging me about it for about year then. But I had zero interest on business. Like, I just can't be bothered with it. Anyway, things happened and I needed some money, but I was too lazy to get a part time job. It's tiring weh. And joining Kakak as a dropship was actually a good start! Also, I figured, if I fill my mind with some other stuff, I wouldn't be thinking about those horrible things so much. Long story short, it actually got fun and I enjoyed writing some stuff up to promote the products. Sebab tu blog terabai kan? And I decided to upgrade myself to an agent! Weee~ Wish me all the luck in the world k?

So, that's last year's.

I aim to leave all the hurt and hate behind.
I aim to work so much harder for my future.
I aim to no longer look back at those who left me.
I aim to make this a better year.

I have so much planned for this entire year, for my business, for this blog, for life. As for HaAi's relationship, we aim to at least save up to RM15k each this year. It's time we finally do something rather than just talk about our future together. Let's pray we actually make it!

Also, I'm graduating in July! Yippp. 2018 is really is the year for me.

Semoga tercapai segalanya!

Making Up for the Flaws: DYXY Cosmetics

Hi everyone!

Gambar ihsan Google. I really need to take my own photos.
I was meaning to get this entry up on Tuesday but unfortunately I got sick and had to hold it off until I'm better. I hardly ever get sick like catching a cold or having a fever like that - I always get migraines tho - but when I do, it's the worst. Hah! I've spent about 2 days in bed, sleeping every now and then, hardly ever eating because my throat hurts like helllllll. Telan air liur pun macam telan pisau yalls. And today I am better and back on my feet!

Also today, I'm introducing a new series! Hohoho. Which, you can obviously read it in the title up there. Yes, it's Making Up for the Flaws series which entails review of make up products. So, to start this series off, I'm gonna be talking about - as you could already probably tell from the title and the photo above - DYXY Cosmetics

I bought these products from a friend. Yes, I have a lot of friends selling all sorts of products. Anything I want, I'll buy from them instead of other random seller. Kira macam tolong kawan jugak. Tengah seronok menyelam tu, jumpa pulak kawan, kita kasi la dia oksigen sikit. Boleh gitu? Hahaha. I will include her details at the end of this entry in case you're interested - which reminds me, I forgot to include the details of my other friend who is selling the Mary Jardin products!

DYXY Cosmetics is a local Malaysian brand. I know I know, we cringe a lot when it comes to local products. But my aim is to talk more on local products because let's face it, some of them are really good in quality and comes in affordable prices too (also because popular/international brands already have a lot of exposure)! And also, with loads of new brands popping here and there like mushroom, some even using fake make ups, jenis beli borong, repack, etc. So! This little blog of mine should be able to help yalls out there to know which are good and which are not. And create awareness on the harmful effects of fake make ups along the way! Sambil menyelam minum air gitchewww!

Moving on!

DYXY Cosmetics is famous for the BC Cream Foundation - yes, the name got me confused too, is you a BC Cream or is you a foundietion? - and I bought all of the 3 products shown in the picture above. And of course, I bought them in a set which was still quite pricey in my opinion. Alright, before we start talking about the prices, let me just talk about the actual products first okay? I'll make it short and fit everything in one post this time! (hopefully)

First one up, the DYXY Chubby Brush! Well, they don't exactly have a name for it but it's chubby so I'mma call it chubby.

Credit: Google
Here's a closer look of the chubby brush. The photo is, of course, taken from Google. I was planning to take my own photo but I left the brush in my make up bag in my other house. Hoh! To be honest, the whole reason I'm interested to get my hands on the products was because I wanted to get this brush! This is what caught my eyes but the price was not worth it for one brush! So I actually contemplated on getting this whole set for months before actually deciding to buy - tu pun because finally there's a promo set which included the brush together.

About the brush: it has a short and chubby handle (like me) with synthetic bristles and it feels heavy - like the money it costed. It's super super dense so that really helped with blending and buffing out your foundation. There's nothing super special about but it works. I don't it's any different or better than all of the other foundation brushes I own. They claimed that this is a beauty blender with a handle and I don't actually disagree with that!

Drawbacks: It. Falls. Out. It's not that bad but there's some that fell out on my face and even in the BC Cream pan. But it could also be because I was rubbing it so hard on my face when you're supposed to use it like a beauty blender, that is, by dabbing motion. Hoho.

My thoughts on the brush: DO NOT GET IT! I like it (despite the fall out), don't get me wrong, it is just not worth the high price. At all. It is RM45 for one brush y'alls. If you go on Lazada or Shopee or Shopback (btw, if you're not signed up with Shopback, please do so using my link here - hehe sempat!) you can find similar brushes with far cheaper prices! They usually wholesale for RM5-RM7 each. Although, there is no guarantee that the quality will be same! I had this doubt so I still got the one from DYXY. Hewhew. Anyway, if you've tried the cheaper one, let me know how it feels!

Alright, let's move on to the next item! The DYXY Green Tea Face Mist!

Okay, this one is my own photo.
Finally using my own photo and based on that you could probably tell what I'm going to say about it. I've used it all the time that it's almost empty!

About the product: It comes in a typical spray bottle and you'll get 160ml of product, which is pretty decent for the price and for a face mist. You should be good for the next couple of months with that amount of product - I used it up in lesser time tho. It's supposed to give a glowing, refreshing and moisturising effect, helps with getting rid of pimples, helps your make up last longer, and it has anti-inflammatory properties. It's made from organic ingredients so it's suitable for sensitive skin too!

Drawbacks: I find it a little bit sticky despite them claiming it not to be. But I guess that's how it helps with making your make up last longer? I dunno.

My thoughts on the product: It is pretty safe to say that this is by far, my favourite face mist! This one definitely worth the RM45 it costed me. It really is refreshing on the skin and on the nose. Haha! It's a green tea face mist so of course, it has a green tea scent and every time I spray it on, I'm in heaaaaven. I can also vouch for the effect it has on pimples! I had one giant pimple on my forehead the other day, and I spray this face mist before going to bed. Waking up the next morning, it shrank! Hoho. So yes, so much love for this product. This one gets a recommendation from me!

Day 2
It was suggested that this face mist can be used on top of your make, particularly for people with dry skin, to get that glowing effect. I have kinda sorta oily skin so I don't need to do that and also, I ain't spraying no face mist on top of my make up, sis. So, I don't know how that'll work out. I only use it after I've cleanse my face as a substitute for a toner.

Oh, and, it's suitable for guys too!

Okies, now it's time for the star of the show! The DYXY BC Cream Foundation!

Yes, hello, here's a me with the BC Cream!
About the product: Okay, first of all, what the hell is a BC Cream? Well, it's a "make up revolution from Korea which combines BB cream and concealer". SO, sebab dia lots of mix tu, it's supposed to give you a major coverage and even out your skin tone. Basically, it's a cream foundation which comes in a compact with a sponge applicator. It has SPF 50 and said to last for more than 8 hours. As any typical local product, this too, only comes in two light shades, Natural and Beige.

My thoughts on the product: I'm kinda on the fence with this one. I've only used it on my face a couple of times and both were just for this review purposes. I got it in the shade Beige because my friend suggested it and because I have kinda sorta fair skin. But it is way way WAY too light for me. I had to use very minimal amount for it to be okay-looking on my face. But I've used it a lot for cleaning up my eyebrows! An example of that is in the photo above. It's perfect for that because it's also a concealer!

This is me using a decent amount, you can immediately tell that my face and neck don't match. Although it was named Beige, the undertone is kinda pinkish which is wrong for me so I ended up looking super white and pale. If you dig this kind of make up, sure, go on ahead and get this shade. But for me, I'd prefer a more natural looking make up (at least for my base). Hence, I would recommend getting the Natural shade instead of Beige. As far as coverage goes, you can absolutely build it up. I would say it's medium to full coverage. Yaaa segala celamu bisa tersorokkan.

In terms of how it wears, I found it to get very oily (despite them claiming not to) throughout the day and I had to blot every two hours or so if I'm out and about in the sun or just about in general (I sweat a lot). But if I'm staying put in an air-conditioned room, I'll be good for about three hours or so. This is a glowing, dewy finish type of foundation and I, for one, prefer a matte finish because of my oily skin. So, yeah, this is not something I would reach for if I'm out for a whole day, ain't got time to keep blotting yalls! In both times that I used this, I primed and set my face with powder, to give this product the same chance as my other foundation!

This is me after 2 hours or so of out and abouting.
This is me after about 3 hours staying pun in AC.
Alright, what else? Other than the oiliness and blotting issue, I think the product is pretty okay. It's easy to blend, I have no issues with that. But I hate the sponge applicator it comes with because it feels sorta stiff and weird on my skin. It did last up to 8 hours with minimal creasing and fading away. But with a lot of blotting you kinda have touch up a lot too. It transfers just a tiny bit and feels a little sticky.

I think that's all I have to say about the BC Cream (some might have slipped my mind). If it doesn't have the problems I mentioned, I would've probably like it more because once blended, it looks like my skin but better! And, yeah, if I had gotten the Natural shade it would've worked better for me. Oh, and this costed me RM85. Well, I bought everything in a set and they actually costed me, in total, RM145, if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, if there's anything I forgot to mention, just hit me up and I'll try to answer it. And if they come up to me while I'm in the toilet, I'll update this entry!

In conclusion, I like the brush, I'm on the fence with the BC Cream and the Face Mist is my holy grail! Well, then, I think that is all for this DYXY Cosmetics! If you like it, leave me pink hearts down below, yeah? Whew! This is one hell of a long post! Hope you enjoyed it.

Until next time,
Aiza Kamal.

P/S: I've been writing this entry since Thursday!
P/SS: I've read on Twitter that this product is a repack, rebrand kinda product. I thought it was legit but then I've read another tweet from the same girl and she said, "ya, betul, best friend founder sendiri yang bagitahu". Oh, well, that's when I knew it could be shit. Best friend founder tak semestinya betul baik, betul tahu bisnes founder itu ye dok? Best friend kuat iri hati best friend dia berjaya pun wujud noks. So I chose to disregard that. But if you have more info on that than I do, let me know! Tinkiu. ^.^

Being Aiza Kamal: Final Year!

Hi everyone!

Today's entry is going to be a more personal story! Asyik membebel review product je boring jugak nak baca kan? I pun boring jugak nak menaip. Hoho. So we'll take a break from reviewing this time around and I'm going to share a little bit about me! But before that, let me just put this photo here!

This is me attempting to recreate a photo I took during my foundation year

So last Monday, I've started my final year here on Nottingham Malaysia!! This is my last year, my last chance to strive for the best! Everything I've worked for, everything I dream of, depends on this very last year. Hoh! The pressure is real, y'alls!

I kinda screwed up in my second year due to personal problems. You know, I used to wonder how can someone be so affected and screw up their studies over someone else's problems. Like, masalah orang lain kot, kau sibuk fikir buat apa? Until I finally wore that shoe! No, we're not thinking of their problems. We're actually thinking of the consequences of that person's problems. And when that person is someone close to you, a lot of that consequences affect you. Of course, there's a matter of the betrayal and heart break, whatever not. These things can demotivate you!

It was horrible and I was so stressed out. There were even times when I went into depressive state and spent a lot of time sleeping. My mind was completely blank, it basically consumed me. I had trouble focusing on my studies because I kept thinking about it at random times. I leave my assignments to the very last minutes and of course they were terrible essays and reports. Anyway, long story short, I went through all that and pretty much on my own. And I flunked my exams.

My tutor actually offered me to fill in the Extenuating Circumstances form and she was ready to back me up on it. To anyone in Nottingham who's reading this, yes, you can do that for personal reasons too! But it was too much work for one form, so I said no, thinking I could handle it. Turns out, I couldn't.

Hence, this final year, I have a lot to make up for! I need to work hard (and smart) on my project and increase my grades. This is my last chance to turn everything around! *flexes biceps* I got my spirit back in the summer, did a lot of thinking and finally woke up one day thinking, it's not worth it to waste my life away over this stupid thing! So I started the autumn semester with new motivation! Huh! Chaiyok Jaja! Wish me luck, yeah?

And to everyone in their final year, also, I wish you all good luck and all the best! Let's all graduate in 2018!!

Final Year, Final Battle.
Love, Aiza.

Caring for the Skin: Mary Jardin III

Hi everyone!

It's been awhile since my last post isn't it? Well, I actually got lazy and then life gets in the way, a lot went on that kept me from writing this post. Hoho. And I got insecure with this whole idea of reviewing products, like, everyone else is doing it and some even better than I am, so why do I bother? This too kinda stopped me from writing. It took awhile to get back up and remember why I'm doing this. BECAUSE THIS IS MY PASSION. I'm doing this because I love it. Okay, ingat ye dear self.

Anyway, in my last post, I've talked about the Mary Jardin Clay Mask and what I think about it. I am absolutely living for that product! Hah! I spent a week in Kuantan the other day and I didn't bring my clay mask with me. I felt like dying! I went straight for it as soon as I got home and baru lah aman bahagia semula kehidupan ini. Haha. Okay, moving on...

So today! I will be talking about the third and final item in the Mary Jardin Basic Set, which is...

Number Three: Mary Jardin Face Oil

This is how the Face Oil looks like. It comes in a little glass bottle with a dropper, like any other Face Oil I guess. Of course, there's a sticker with the Mary Jardin logo, pretty picture of lavenders, the ingredients and the instructions. This cost me RM65 on its own and a little cheaper if you get it in a set! I think this is considered cheap comparing to other Face Oils available in Sephora. I have yet to find anything else cheaper than this. If you do, let me know!

These are the benefits and ingredients of the MJ Face Oil. Still 100% natural! It smells so nice, macam lavender (ofcs)! Masa mula-mula pakai dulu, I nak pakai banyak-banyak kali just for it scent. Hoho!

Okay, to be honest, I was sceptical with using Face Oil! I have oily skin before, so macam kalau pakai oil, tak ke bertambah-tambah shine bright like a diamenggg tu kan? Anyway, my friend convinced me to try and I, ofcs, did. Haaaa ever since that moment, I am definitely living for this! It definitely does not make my skin more oily than it already is. In fact, it kinda controls the oil a little bit. My face doesn't get as oily as it used to be la.

As you can see from the picture above, it was claimed to help hydrate your skin. I can absolutely vouch for that! Yes, my skin feels so hydrated and moisturised and glowing. I don't even need to put on any other moisturizer. It does say at the back of the bottle that the Face Oil can be used as a cleanser, a moisturizer and even a make up remover! So tepek Face Oil ni je dah cukupppp. Hoho. And below are pictures of me before and after using this MJ Face Oil.

This is me before using MJ. Dahi hitam sebab penuh dengan bekas jerawat puberty. Hoho. And sebelum start pakai MJ ni, any parut pun akan bermaharajalela dengan sekian lamanya kat atas muka. With MJ, it still takes some time but it goes away faster than it did before. Faham tak? Haha. Time ni kalau nak keluar, mesti nak tepek2 foundation la, bb cream la, segala macam la sebab nak bagi kulit tu nampak sekata sikit. Hihu.

And this is me after using the Face Oil. Terus confident nak keluar barefaced, tepek Face Oil je (and sunscreen kalau keluar siang) and calit lipstick sikit. Hoho. Takyah mekap beria pun okay but I still do because I'm just obsessed with make up. Haha.

However, do keep in mind that it has make up removing properties, as per normal oil does, so you might not want to use this before your make up. Nanti dah penat-penat mekap, boleh pulak mekap tu lari ke hujung benua. So try to avoid using it immediately before make up! Bagi dia masa untuk sink in your skin dulu baru apply make up. Kalau tak, rosak la mekap chuolls.

Also, kalau nak barefaced pakai Face Oil saja and keluar during the day, please put on sunscreen. Kalau tidak, boleh terbakar la kulit kena goreng dengan cahaya matahari. Hoho. So the best way, in my opinion, is to use it as a night skincare routine. Sebelum tidur tu tepek la sikit Face Oil ni. I'm using it night and day because it's my holy grail. Rasa macam tak lengkap hidup kalau tak letak Face Oil ni. Hewhew.

It also takes some time to work la. Takde la sekali tepek terus kebabom cantik kulit. No, it's not a fairy godmother ya! Consistent pakai, amalkan both the Face Oil and the Clay Mask, haa then can la kebabom lawaaa! As for me, it helped with my scars a lot. Kalau dulu, makan berbulan baru hilang parut. Now, in weeks je dah nampak parut tu mengecil, mengecil dan terus mengecil hingga hilang dari radar. Haha.

The Face Oil and the Clay Mask are my holy grails and I for sure akan beli again and again. But the Facial Soap, I tak minat sangat because you can definitely get something similar in terms of quality but with cheaper price in drugstore la. Pendek kata, takde yang special sangat Facial Soap dia. Face Oil and Clay Mask, tiada gantinya! Hoho.

Well, I guess that's it! Habis dah pun bebel pasal Basic Set Mary Jardin ni. Sampai 3 episod kau haa. I'm currently trying out their new Lavender Rose Collection. So, tunggu la berbulan kemudian baru keluar review! Hahaha.

Hope you enjoy my writing and please give me some pink hearts if you do. Hehe.

Caring for the Skin: Mary Jardin Skincare II

Hi everyone!

So I am back again today with more reviews for Mary Jardin's products. Last week, I've talked (or written if you prefer) about the MJ Facial Soap and what I feel about it. Today, I'm just gonna go ahead and pick up where I've left off, takyah mukadimah bebel panjang-panjang. Haha.

So the next item I'm going to talk about is...

Number Two: Mary Jardin Clay Mask

I am absolutely hype up over this clay mask! So this is how the packaging looks like. It comes in a little glass jar macam bekas sos Prego tu. And the contents are in powder form. The powder is black macam charcoal gitu and it also has bits and pieces of oats. Boleh nampak la the different texture of the powder and oats. So, this mask is made of  bentonite clay, activated charcoal, papaya extract, lavender buds, etc. This information is available online if you google them and since I tau uols malas nak search kan, I've attached the photos below. These ingredients were also printed on the back of the jar! Again, loving the classic, english garden kinda packaging. Rasa exclusive bila guna. Hiks.

How to use?

Okay, since it's in powder form kan, so kena lah bancuh dengan air. You can also mix it with milk, rose water and I've read somewhere that it's mixable with honey too. But I wouldn't recommend mixing it with honey because melekit! Haha. And also DO NOT mix it with anything that has an oil base. Nanti melekat hitam-hitam serupa orang minyak uols. Trust me, I've learnt it the hard way. Huhu.

So, on the back of the little jar, ada instructions on how to use this clay mask. First of all, take a teaspoon of MJ Clay Mask and put it into a bowl. I bought a mask bowl from Miniso (Daiso-like store) and it came with a little set of measuring spoons (photo below). So I just use that for this mask.

Picture creds to Google. My mask bowl is something like this but ofcs, I got it in pink. But I didn't the brush so I had to use a flat foundation brush. Price: RM10
Secondly, mix it with liquid of your choice including yoghurt, honey, milk, rose water, herbal infusion or plain water. I've mentioned some of these above. And I normally would just use plain water. Kalau ada susu, I guna susu sometimes. Kemudian, kacaulah sehingga sebati. Boleh feeling-feeling buat kuih gitu. Haha.

Alright, next! Apply the mixture to cleansed, damp face. What I would like to do is, lepas dah cuci muka using the MJ Facial Soap ofcs, I'd take a warm small towel and press it on my face. Biar pori-pori lebih terbukak gitu. Haha. But if you have a face steamer, use it. I don't so I had to get creative. Boleh je kalau nak tunduk menghadap semangkuk air panas kan? But lenguh tengkuk lol. So, I guna towel, celup dalam air suam, pressed it on my face for a couple of minutes, takyah lama-lama. On my malas days, I letak je towel tu on my face kejap. Haha. Haa lepas tu baru I apply the mask. I feel like the face steaming helps the mask to be more effective. Bila I "steam" my face, lepas I remove the mask, I feel like kotoran-kotoran tu lagi senang and lagi banyak keluar, compared to not steaming my face. You can ofcs skip this step, it'll work just fine. Still banyak jugak yang keluar. Cuma kalau you buat the extra step, the effect pun jadi extra la! Ya know what I meaann?

Oh and remember, avoid the areas around your eyes and mouth! Ni peringatan paling basic in caring for the skin, okeh?

So, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and wash it off with warm water. But ofcs Aiza being Aiza, I'd leave it on until it dries and gets itchy because I usually would be watching a movie or something while pampering myself, so malas la nak bangun cuci. Haha. Don't be like me k gais!

Anyway, this is another extra step of mine. So I have like super stubborn blackheads and whiteheads on my nose and chin. Ofcs, I need to do all these extra steps to really get all the dirts out. Jadinya, lepas dah cuci muka buang all the blackness of the mask, I akan pakai the pore strip or a peel off mask. Alternatively. I've read somewhere - can't remember where - that pore strips are bad for your skin. But I love using it lol. So, do you.

Okay, that's how to correctly use it and how I use it. Haha.

Haa.. Yang ni bau dia lain sikit. Still ada hints of lavender but the clay scent tu lagi overpowering. It has that earthy smell to it. Bau macam tanah lumpur camtu. So if you don't like scents yang macam tu, avoid mixing it with milk. Sebab nanti lagi unbearable bau dia. Haha. For me, I don't really mind. Bau dia pun sekejap je, masa apply je. After that, it's gone.

Does it work?

Yes, yes, YES. Absolutely yes! I am so in love with this clay mask, words can't even describe it. Like I said, I don't have major problems pun with my skin. But I do have a lot blackheads and whiteheads on my nose and my chin. And it's really annoying. Degil pulak tu, taknak keluar even if I use the pore strip. I've tried a lot of things to get rid of them. Pergi facial pun, they can't clear everything out. Fuhh stress betul sis.

But but but... Since Mary Jardin came into my life, kurang dah sikit stress tu. Hihi. This clay mask works like wonders. Masa apply tu rasa sejuk-sejuk je. Best gilaaa babs. And the reason why I'm so in love with it, lepas pakai tu, blackheads and whiteheads keluar dengan jayanya. Takde degil-degil dah. Omaigoddd. Seronok betul rasa.

So this is my skin now. Yes, still ada lagi all the nastyheads. Sebab I malas pakai mask tu selalu. It's recommended to use them every week. Disebabkan seketul Aiza pemalas, I only use them like once a month. So kuranglah nampak hasilnya. Huhu. Probably if you use them as per recommendation, lagi kebabom la kot effect dia? Haha. So, nak cantik don't be pemalas like me!

So yes, I would definitely recommend this! I love it so much!! Haa memang puas betul tengok semua blackheads whiteheads habis keluar. Kalau tak, satu dua je yang melekat. Blackheads degil pun boleh keluar, apatah lagi yang tak berapa degil kan?

What I hate?

There's nothing much to hate actually. I just don't like the fact that it's powdery and I have to mix it myself je. Leceh. Tu je. Tu pun sebab I pemalas je. Haha. Everything else, looove!

Well, I guess that's it for today's episode of Caring for the Skin! Panjang dah I bebel and you pun penat dah baca kan? Sambung nanti pulak. I will see you next week for the last item in the MJ Basic Set. Please leave me pink hearts in the comment if you love my writing!

Note: I bought everything myself and really used it. This is not a sponsored post!
NoteII: Mary Jardin is launching their first grand outlet and some new products this Sunday, 30th July 2017 at the Star Avenue Mall (near Subang Airport). I'm so excited to get my hands on them! Hewhew.

Until next time, dearie.
Be original, be you.
Love, Jaja.

Caring for the Skin: Mary Jardin Skincare I

Hi everyone!

I am back yet again with a new post. And a new blog. Lol. It has been a couple of years since the last time I blog, like actual blog - I tried writing a new post several times but they all ended up in the drafts because I kinda sorta gave up halfway through writing it. Uhuk. With the existence of other microblogging sites, rasa macam dah tak perlu ada blog. Banyak meroyan on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter je lah. Back then, blog ni lah segalanya. Haha.

Okay, long story short, I'm gonna start blogging again. And this time it'll be a beauty blog! Okay, tak la. Meroyan benda lain gak nanti. Harapnya tak give up lagi lah? Ahaha.

Anyway, moving on, today, I'm going to be reviewing the skincare that I have been using for the last 4 months. Kot. I bought them in March and now it's July. So this is a long overdue review. Hewhew. And they are.... Drumroll please!

Mary Jardin is a local Malaysian brand which specialises in organic skincare. Ye, uols, the products are all organic! And it is founded by medical doctor, Dr. Maryam Al Batul Azizuddin. They used premium organic ingredients in their products to "create a cutting edge skin care formulation and bring you safe, effective and luxurious skin care yet affordable". You can read more about them on their website HERE!

Honestly, I am always sceptical when it comes to local products. Yelah, macam-macam produk ada zaman sekarang ni, ingredients apa pun kita tak pasti. Selamat ke tidak ke, pun kita tak tahu. Mana ada seller/founder product nak admit product dia guna bahan berbahaya kan? Sebelum nak beli MJ ni pun, berkali-kali fikir, buat research dulu. Haha. Gigih ye google, tengok videos on YouTube, just to gain info about this product, boleh dipercayai ke tak. Haha. Always do your research first k girls!

Alkisahnya, I never really had a proper skincare products or routine before this - I only had a cleanser je k. I just can't be bothered. Haha. Sebabnya, malas! And then I decided to finally get a whole bunch of skincare products, like, the whole deal. Cleanser - toner - moisturizer - serum - blablabla. But knowing me, I didn't want to splurge into more high ends products. Later malas again, dah membazir je beli. Haha. As I was scrolling through my social medias, tengok-tengok kot ada orang share skincare routine dia. I legit tak tau what to put first ke apa ke, what this is for, what that is for - research ni termasuk dalam kegigihan research pasal MJ. Anyway, I saw my friend who is a Mary Jardin agent, raving about this product on her Facebook page. So I thought, macam nice je to start with.

But of course, before every purchase, I would ask Encik Ha for advices. But he filled my head with doubts and I kept doubting sampai lah I found this one video on YouTube where the founder, Dr Maryam, was being interviewed. Her answers finally hooked me up on this product! Hikz.

Okay, dah bebel melalut panjang. Let's get on to talking about the actual products!

So, they came in this pretty package which consisted of Mary Jardin Facial Soap, Mary Jardin Face Oil and Mary Jardin Clay Mask. This is their Basic Set which I bought for RM150 because they were having a promotion.

Normal Price: RM170

But they have promotions every month or so. So, fret not, you can always get a cheaper price, greater deals for this Basic Set! They have different combo prices too! Kena check their agents' Facebook page selalu lah for all these promotions. What do you think? Affordable? Or not? Hehe.

For me, I think it's a little bit pricier than I expected. It's kind of leaning towards the 'non-affordable' skincare range. But I guess it depends la. If you're working, you'd probably find this affordable. But if you're a student like me, you'd probably find this a little bit expensive. Is it worth it? We'll see about that at the end of this post!

I am absolutely loving the packaging! As you can see, packaging dia macam classic English garden sorta thing with all the lavenders gitu. Haha. It also reminds me of the Lavender Garden in Cameron Highlands! So bila pakai these products cam feeling-feeling classic, menghirup udara dingin Cameron Highlands. Gituhh haa. The packaging also buat the products nampak macam exclusive gila. Yeah, I always have a thing la for products with dark packaging ni. Suka!

Alright, moving on. Now, I'm going to talk about each of the products in the Basic Set.

Numero Uno: MJ Facial Soap

This is what the Facial Soap looks like. It's a oval-shaped bar soap with lavender bouquet design. I think it's pretty and smart la to use the design. Baru la lain daripada yang lain! Haha. This picture isn't mine tho because I've cut up mine and I forgot to take the pictures before cutting them up. Sayang k nak potong-potong. But, my friend suggested so, supaya boleh jimatkan sabun tu. And yes, memang jimat because I'm still using the one that I bought in March - can la jimat this long because I sometimes malas to basuh muka. Hewhew.

So this Facial Soap is made of honey, oat, lavender extract, goat milk, castor oil, etc, all the good organic stuff la. And it can helps to moisturise your skin, clear out your pores, cure and prevent acne, etc. These information are available if you Google them. I malas nak tulis all. But I'll attach the photos la kan if you guys also malas like me. Haha.

It smells so nice. Ofcs la kan, it's lavender! Bau macam dekat taman bunga gitu. So sambil cuci muka, boleh berangan tengah berlari-lari membelah angin dengan kekasih hati di tengah-tengah taman lavender utama. Kihkihkih. Yang forever alone tu cuci muka sambil meratap je la.

Does it work?

To be honest, I don't really feel like it does anything to my skin. It's probably working it's magic somewhere somehow but I can't feel it. Or maybe because I just couldn't tell? Haha. I don't really have a major problem with my skin. Just jerawat pasir yang tumbuh macam ditabur benih on my forehead during that time of the month and seketul dua jerawat sebesar alam. Since pakai MJ ni ada lah berkurangan sikit kadar pertumbuhan tu. And jerawat-jerawat besar pun jarang naik. Kalau naik pun, cepat je dia mengecut balik.

Overall, it works somehow, I just don't really feel it. Like takde la lepas pakai terus wowww kebabom dah. Takde k. But then again, different people have different skin types so the effect might vary too. It doesn't work much on me, it might work on you! Yang penting it doesn't cause any break outs! So dia macam tengah-tengah je. Berkesan sangat pun tidak, memudaratkan pun tak. It's safe la.

What I Hate?

Okay hate maybe is a strong word la in this case. The thing I dislike about it is that it's a less foam kinda formula. And personally, I like foamy things. Ofcs la less foam equals more clean kan. But personal preferences, I'd like it better if it's foamy. Haha. And also it's a bar soap. I don't like bar soaps. For me, it's kinda hard to maintain, and cepat habis. Haha. Kalau terbiar kena air je esok confirm dah cair jadi gooey and lose its shape. Bila dah takde shape tu, susah la nak guna. And once it's melted, it gets stuck to the container. So bazir. I prefer face washes in tubes! But that's just me, you could be different. Hehe.

Individually, this Facial Soap is RM45 which is a little bit pricey than the ones I usually get from a drugstore. But it's still okay. Mampu lagi lah nak beli, considering it can last longer than a month.

Worth it?

Well, it's not not worth it. But I wouldn't say it's worth it either. So-so lah. I'm kind of in the middle with this product. If it works, it should be worth it la. Since it works so-so je on my skin, I pun rasa so-so je berbaloi beli. Haha. I would recommend this to people with major skin problems and those who has a lot to spend. If you're like me, a student with limited budget and not so much skin problems, then skip this product!

So I think that's about it with the Facial Soap. Whewwww. Panjang benor bebel baru satu produk.
Okay, we'll stop here first. Later I sambung part II of this skincare. Penat woi taip panjang-panjang. And for sure you guys pun penat baca. Haha.

Until next time.
